on a response pat made to kevin on steering wheel removal,pat said put a double length nut on the steering shaft after removing the acorn nut,and then thread a 3" bolt in to nut and tighten down on steering shaft and tap bolt head with hammer, my question is won't this damage the teeth on the other end of the steering shaft,and the part that the teeth go into,i think the part is called the steering gear sector that the shaft goes to.

I agree with your thinking re damage to something, bearings too maybe. If you screw the double length not about a 1/16 inch from steering wheel and then sit in the tractor seat . Feet on the foor pegs and knees under the steering wheel . Push up on steering wheel with your knees with all your might and rap the center bolt at the same time . They always come loose for me this way.
