I've been slowly refurbishing my TO-20 and this includes various bits of chain for lift link check chains, safety chains, pin retaining chain, etc. In looking through an original Parts Book from 1951 as well as a commercially available reprint from 1957, plus various photos in original manuals of all sorts, it seems that ALL the old chain I look at has simple welded links. Later chain has twisted links, looking like figure-8's with an extra turn of wire around "the waist of the 8". Some items advertised as "nos" or new old stock, or original, seem to have this twisted link chain, even though it NEVER appears in any photo or drawing from original Ferguson or Ford-Ferguson tractor literature. Anybody got any thoughts on this?

I believe, I have origional equipment on my TE20. I had a question about these chains as mine are different lengths. What I know. They are simple welded loop links. They are 7 links long with a pin link on each end.

I have one chain that is 6 links long and it plainly wont reach the lateral stiffening bar.

Hope this helps.
Jeff
