Just bought a Fergeson that the guy thought was a TO20, but the serial # plate says "TO 99983". In checking the numbers on this site, the TO20 in 1951 started at 39163. Did they make that many in 1951, or is it a 1952 TO30? What is different on the TO30, or are they just later models? I'm new to the Fergeson model, having been raised on JD 2 bangers. Any help greatly appreciated!!

The TO20 finished at 60000 and the TO30 finished at 140000, so you have a TO30!

Check the engine. The 20 had a Continental Z120 and the 30 had a Z129. These numbers should appear on the block. The primary visual difference in these engines is that the Z129 has an outside oil filter while the Z120 has it in the pan. The Z129 is sveral HP larger but most all parts are interchangeable.
