How do you use a drawbar on a TO-35 (1955 I think)

Found the drawbar for my to-35 in an 8 acre field. Was left by the previous owner. Also found the pin and safety clevis pin out there in the field. How does this thing a ma jiggy hook up. Do I pin the short end ofthe bend under the tractor or the long end? Does it need something else to connect it to the hudualic arms???

I gather it can be used for pulling a trailer or attaching a chain for stump pulling.

Richard, do your family a favor and don't pull stumps with any tractor. Any safety manual will tell you that and for a good reason. They are not designed for that.

Hi Richard, I have the same type of drawbar. It is like a pie slice shape with adjustment holes in the semi circle portion.
Like Phil mentionned it has nothing to do with the 3 point hitch. Those drawbar are not the most sturdy for this model as a fair load on the tongue
can bend the circle plate same as pulling very hard with a downward pressure at the tip of the tongue. The holes in the circles allow different lateral position or offset drawbar.

To install, first you need the main pin and clip.
Put the tip or point of the pie shape at the rear and under tractor. The rest is pretty self evident. Please ask again should you have other questions or simply how it went.

If I understand what type of drawbar you have (and I'm not certain I do), the long end goes under the tractor and the part near the bend goes to the rear. You can turn it up or down depending on whether you want the drawbar to be higher at the hitch point or not. You may need a clip to keep the pin from falling out. It does not connect to the hydraulic arms. Yes, it is helpful for hauling a trailer, etc. Pulling stumps with a tractor drawbar is better than pulling them with any portion of the 3 pt. hitch (that's a no-no), but I find a heavy 4wd vehicle (like my Chevy Suburban) pulls stumps better than these small tractors.
