Hi, just picked up my first fergie saturday,I have reseached it and found it to be a 1952 TO30 with Z129 contenital engine, what baffles me is all the pictures I;ve found shows TO30;s with the small hub like 8N fords,my ferguson has large rear hubs like the 9N&2N fords,is this common or a combination of two tractors, its deffinitly a "52 TO-30,ser. no. TO-104228 Thanks for any insight on this, MIKE.

Does this Ferguson have the Ferguson or the Ford brake pedals?

Your brakes are 9N/2N brakes. The Fergies have one brake pedal on the right for both brakes and then each side has an elevated hand/foot pedal that can be pulled or depressed for the individual brakes. The Fergies do not have a brake foot pedal on the left near the clutch. Sounds like you have the front of a Fergie and the back end of a Ford. I guess it's a Forguson. Or a Ferd. Maybe Johnny Cash built it ... one piece at a time.

Thanks Phil,I like your nameing of that,we all got a good laugh on it,I found further evidence that its just as you said,I pulled the hydro-pump,it has the all in one bottom plate-pump casting, not sure if the ferguson has that kind, the pump did have HF cast on it,do you know if there's any difference in the control valve's? this one's about 2 1/2in.long with a tapered end and a skinny shaft spring thang through the middle, best I can tell it's 9N,also in my cleaning of the lift arms I found 9N casting numbers, being thats the case,do I go with 80/90wt.or the GL-1? THANKS, Mike.

If you could post a pic, that would be helpful, but it does sound as if you have 9N/2N hubs, and by all the info you posted you do have a TO-30. This is not common.

The 9n axle will fit the 30. Seen the 9n axle hub on ferguson before. Which means you also have 9n wheels, brakes, brake drum and lug nuts. Really should not be a problem on a work tractor.

Hi fella"s, Thanks for the info, sorry unable to post picture but I measured the hub, it has 151/2 in. lug centers and 15 in.drums,I also beleive them to be 9N,not really worried, the more surface the more braking and turning ability I say,One other queastion I need help with, where do I get the GL-1 Mineral oil for the hydralics? Parts house? Oil company? These old fergusons ar'nt common in my area mainly ford products, there is a ferguson dealer about 100 miles from where I live.

Texaco Thuban 80W90 GL-1 from a Texaco Distributor. 5 gallons cost $43. If you go to NAPA make sure the label says its GL-1, not GL-5!

GL-1 is available from NAPA. I find it somewhat cheaper at tractor places, but some of them don't carry it. The brand around here that is most common is "Warren". Generally it is about $25 per 5 gallons. You need 6 gallons for full replenishment, but sometimes the reservoir doesn't drain completely, so don't overfill. Allow lots of drain time.
