i have been trying for ages to remove the steering wheel from my ferguson ted20. i am in the later part of the restoration period but i cannot remove the wheel to replace the chrome collar. I have tryed everything from boiling oil, to hitting it until my arm was numb, if anyone to reveal any secret ideas that they may have i would be very greatful

I had the same problem on my MF35. I used a small bearing puller(NOT A GEAR PULLER) right under the hub of the wheel, then I used a gear puller to pull the bearing puller. Wheel came off quick and easy. Hope this helps.

There is an old trick to getting those wheels off. First, find a nut to replace the finish nut so you don't ruin it. Then screw the replacement on the steering shaft until the nut is flush with the shaft. Have another person take both hands and lift on the wheel while you take a brass hammer if you have one and smack the nut. A few blows will make it come loose. I have done this many times and if you are patient it will come off.

I use a puller on my TO30 as the shaft is keyed. Don't know if yours is the same. If you use a puller, install an old nut on the shaft to keep it from spreading from the force of the puller shaft.
