The sure seals were easy to install. Makes you want to throw rocks at the drilling the collar off thing. Seems like they should work just fine.

I had a 1955 TEA 20-85 that I had replaced the inner seals on with the orginal style... They still leaked! I removed them and replaced with a set of "sure seals". Very easy to do, no drilling, no pressing!

As I'm sure others have alluded to, the inner seals are to keep the diff/trani/hyd system oil from leaking into the bearings and eventually into the brakes, the outter seal is to keep the bearing grease in and water out of the bearings.

Sure Seals are the way to go!

Greetings, And Merry christmas, if it is a leak you are concerned with you should just replace the outer seal hence the easy one. The deeper seal is for grease and bearing. Just replace the outer seal and the oil leak shall stop.

How does one know if a sure seal will do the job? I have a leak in the rear axle but we haven't yet even taken the wheel off. My guess would be that the seal replaced by the sure seal is a common problem in these tractors. What should I look for? Merry Christmas to All Paul

I think I will check them out too. I haven't heard of them in the UK. I feel a bit like throwing rocks at the dealer who charged me �168 for pressing two bearings off and replacing them especially when I was supplying the parts!! Sure seals would be a better bet I think. The collar itself is easy to deal with (especially if you can heat it redhot to replace) but getting the bearing off can be more of a problem.

Rusty, I am glad that your repairs went well. However, I have only heard of the sure seal and am wondering how it works. I would also like to know where you were able to find one at. I just replaced my seals the hard way and am hoping that they will hold up. I may need to be finding some sure seals though. Anyway, in advance, thanks for your time and reply!!!

Found a set at the massey ferguson dealer $25. You can buy them for less though. The massey ferguson dealer wanted $16 dollars for the collars and $12 for the outter seal. That is $28 dollars a wheel. The ideal fix is to replace the outter seal and install sure seals. Then you have to get the bearing off.
