THROTTLE ARM (?)

UNFORTUNATELY, I DO NOT HAVE A CATALOG IN ORDER TO PROPERLY IDENTIFY THE PART I AM LOOKING FOR. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A '53 TO30 IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONE EXCEPTION. THE THROTTLE ARM, THE STICK UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL, USED TO AUGMENT RPM, ETC. IS BAD. INSTEAD OF MAINTAINING A THROTTLE SPEED IS FALL BACK DOWN TO AN IDLE POSITION. THIS CAUSES A BIT OF INCONVENIENCE AS YOU HAVE TO DRIVE WITH YOU HAND ON THE THROTTLE. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE I COULD LOCATE SUCH A PART. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. there is supposed to be a round cork piece that goes between the arm and the dash. You can make one out of emery cloth or there should be a jam nut that you loosen and slide back to put more tension on the spring. I can send you a parts pic if you send me your email address.

There are 2 springs that could be giving you trouble if they are malfunctioning. Or as we say in Alabama (tore up). One of them is on the throtle arm just under the dash. You can't see it without removing stuff. The other is on the long throttle shaft. You can get a throttle arm at a salvage yard. Just visited the local salvage yard and there is no shortage of the arms. But check the springs.
