When using my 5' brush hog or blade I have to constantly adjust the hieght for the first 5-10 minutes of mowing/blading. I'll set it at certain height and 10 seconds later it's changed. Finally I get it "zeroed in" and it will be OK as long as I don't change the height or turn the PTO off. Note: When I turn the PTO off the implement will drop after about 1 min. Not sure where to start trouble shooting. Thanks in advance for any help.

I set my height when I hook up the mower. If you have your rear wheel set to hold the back end where you want it then you just adjust your top link so the front will only go down to where you want it...

It can rock frm side to side some, but you can just drop it and go!!

Two problems. First, these tractors don't have position control. Either up or down. No in between. Unless you buy an add-on device from Zane Sherman called the Zane Thang or a Fergy Positioner from another source in Australia, both in the $75 range. If you get yours to hang in a middle position it will be a fragile moment. Search the archives for this site and you will find references to both products. Another alternative for a bush hog is a set of delimiter chains, available from several suppliers of this site, for about $25. But that won't help with your back blade work. Second, you do have a hydraulic problem if it drops in a minute or two. That could be lots of things. One cheap and fairly easy possiblity is the relief valve may be bad. It is shaped like a spark plug and is at the bottom of the reservoir behind the pump. It is possible to replace it without removing the fluid, but it is MUCH easier with the fluid drained and you can access it thru the drain hole as well as thru the side holes below the seat. It takes an 11/16 stubby wrench. Cost of relief valve is about $24. Hope that helps.
