Greetings and Merry Christmas to all!

I have a TO-30 that I use around the yard mainly to move dirt/mulch from Point A to Point B using a pond scoop. As such, I really don't have a need for the PTO. Knowing that a rotating PTO is a major safety problem, I would like to take it out. Can I do that? Would a MF dealer have the parts to plug up the hole?

put the big cap over it that came with all fergusons it's not that big only long enough to screw in the tractor and cover the shaft. about 3 in . long

Doug,

Much easier is just to buy the screw on cover that protects the end of the PTO shaft (or you from it).

Also if you remove the shaft, the oil pump in the back end won't work, so your hydraulics will die.

Stick a cover on.

Thanks! I was just about ready to respond that there's no way that a cover would fit over that big thing, but then I remembered it has one of those slip connectors on it so it only turns one direction. I bet when that thing comes off it won't look quite so "uncoverable".
