I've seen mention of "lowering the lift control and putting on the safety chain" in reference to using a drawbar on a Ferguson. I can't find a drawing or photo of what exactly this is or means. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thnaks, Steve

I can't find the Fergy book, but in my Dexta book, There's the old Ford chain setup.

Steve These are the same as the ford one's. They are available new from a place called N-new. I will look for my catalog and get back to you with the info. Scott a Ferguson nut.

Steve, to the best of my knowledge, the safety chains you refer to were identical to those used on the Ford 9N/2N. I'm not sure about the 8N.

Steve, I believe you can find a picture in the ooperator's manual. When you install the stays of the drawbar, you can't raise the lift without bending the stays, so the finger tip control is "locked " in the down positon using the safety chain to prevent that from happening .

Phil, I won't be able to get to my TO-20 Operator's Manual until Friday. I did look at it before I did the posting here. Do you have a page reference?

Is the chain the same as is used on the Ford N? Sheet metal end links, with an oval, stamped with the warning message, in the center of the two lengths of chain?

Thanks

Steve, that sounds correct per my ops book and parts book. I don't actually have one myself, as I am still looking fr an original. My parts book shows the same part for 20/30/9N/2N. This chain is described on page 12 of my 30 ops manual and page 98 of my parts book(issue 8/57).

Thanks for all the comments. I also found a picture on p. 6 of the "Operation and Maintenance" booklet for the TO-20. That illustration is actually a cutaway of the whole traactor, but there happens to be one of these safety chains in place on it.
