SAFETY START SWITCH Testing

I would like to test the neutral safety switch in my to-35. Is this correct, when the tractor is in neutral it should have some reading in ohms (closed switch) and when it is in gear it should have an infinite reading (open)?

Richard, there was no "S" starting position for the shift lever on a TO-35.

Richard, I'm going to guess that the only way you can close the switch and get a current flow is to move the shift lever to the S position(right and forward). I believe this causes a pushrod to activate(close) the switch; in neutral or in any gear, the switch is open. Good luck!

Thanks for the info everyone. I was wondering why my starter button wasn't working. Pulled the boot of the safety switch and the wires fell out. Don't know yet whether it's the wiring, connection or switch. I'm get a bit tired of using a screw driver on the solinoid to start it.

I have not had occasion to test that on my TO-35, but I would say you are correct. Your theory sounds right to me.
