Splitting rails

Anyone ever hear of these things. I gather they are a safety item when splitting a tractor. Do you make them, buy them, are they worth it????

It is very easy to make a rail for splitting your tractor. Start with a piece of 1" or 1 1/2" angle iron. This lays flat on the floor. Like this ^ . Then you can get a set of wheels that have a Vee groove in them. Weld up a mount to bolt one of these wheels to the bottom on the transmission and another to the bottom of the engine at a height that has the v-wheels just touching the angle iron. The mount has to be very rigid. When you split the tractor the halves slide apart and back together again in perfect alignment. The hard part is always keeping the front wheels tracking straight. If you don't plan on using this more than once I don't think that it is worth the work. I have four tractors and it is well worth it.
