TO-20 OIL PICKUP PROBS HELP

HEY I AM CUSSING THIS POOR LITTLE TRACTOR. JUST BOUGHT IT #1 CYL DROPPED VALVE AND CRUNCHED SLEEVE ASSY. GOT THAT ALL REPLACED HEAD WORK DONE. NOW HOW DO YOU GET THE OIL PUMP TO MAINTAIN A PRIME. I TOOK OFF PUMP PRIMED IT PUT FILTER BACK ON THEN POOF. WHATS UP? YOU KNOW THE THEORY OF THE PUMPING SYSTEM AT THE FILTER DOES NOT WORK IN THIS BLOCK HEAD OF MINE. WHAT I MEAN IS THE PICK-UP AND RETURN TO THE FILTER. WHERE DOES THE RETURNED OIL COME FROM.TO GET TO THE INSIDE OF THE FILTER. THANKS.....

Working on a te-20. The oil returns through the center crank. How did you get it to work?

I had to get a hand pump and prime the heck out of it I hooked the pump into the 1/8 pipe threaded fitting for the the oil guage which is in the block. if you cant find a pump maybe rig up one with a hand type oil squirt can put a rubber hose on the end with an 1/8 inch fitting on the end and screw it into the block and get after it flood it with your oil type your using. and if your valve cover is off watch for oil to start coming up.buy the way take out your spark plugs to reduce strain on your starter. do for short durations keep adding oil. then take off the fitting and see if oil starts coming out on its own after cranking over.you may put your finger tip over the hole while cranking to help in building up pressure! whatever happens do not give up!!! worked for me . ps keep oil level maintained when doing this.good luck
