BOUGHT A TO20 AT AUCTION:
HEAVY LEAK AT OIL PAN, LEAK AT PTO, LEAKS IN RADIATOR.
GOT A NEW PAN GASKET, INSTALLED IT AND NOW HAVE OIL LEAKING FROM FLYWHEEL HOUSING. ASSUME THIS IS COMMING FROM ENGINE. 9N BOOK TALKS OF A REAR BEARING OIL SEAL "FITTED IN THE PAN" "REMOVABLE PIECES" IS THERE SUPPOSED TO BE SOMETHING SIMALAR
ON THE TO20? OR WHAT SHOULD BE THERE THAT ISNT. HELPFULL HINTS APPRECIATED PLEASE.

AND I AM DISCUSTED WITH IT! PISED AWAY ANOTHER $100. WISH I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK AND
WRITE IT OFF TO EXPERIENCE. MY TIME AND EXPENCE CAN BE PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE..... I'VE LOST BEFERE!

Working on a te-20 replacing all the seals and gaskets. Haven't found many that do not need replcaed. Replace the rear main, transmission input, pto saft seal, pto shaft sleeve, pto gasket, rear rope and oil pan. The oil pan has to be remove to replace rear main and rear rope. When your clutch disc gets oil soaked the tractor will go no mo.

Dave's right, but there was also the Standard Motor Company engine fitted. Rear main bearing is a split the tractor job, tho' I have heard of people doing it from underneath, and using cyanoacrylate adhesive to bond the two ends of the seal together.

PTO seal is easier - search these archives for hints and tips.

Radiator you can either have rebuilt at your local radiator specialist, or put a new one in (you can still get 'em new, but not OEM)

If you split the tractor, it's worth replacing all the seals you can see, and also the clutch, thrust bearing, and pilot bearing. That way you only do the job once.

If you're in the States, have a good Thanksgiving weekend. If you're not, just have a good weekend anyway.

Hank, The to 20 uses a continental engine, not remotely close to a ford. You have either a rear main seal leak or a transmission input shaft leak.What doe's the oil look like ? Trans oil is normally thicker than engine oil. No matter which is leaking, it will be nessesary to split the tractor. One thing to check first is the level in the trans. I bought one once that had 2 gals. to much in it, causing a couple of leaks. Goodluck.
