I have a 1952 Ferguson TO-30 that has been converted over to a 12 volt negative ground charging system by the previous owner. The 12 volt battery that was installed is a group 27,to high(rubber glove covered positive terminal) and to long for the battery tray(positve terminal end of battery case cracked). What would be the best battery group number to use? I have installed new 10 gauge wiring,ammeter,ignition switch & ballast resistor. The group 27 that was installed was almost 9 inches to the top of the terminal post. Thanks,Ernie

Lots of batterys fit. I like the # 51 as used in rice burner cars. 22 or 22f works fine depending on your cables. Others to look at would be the 24, Wal Marts DT 3 or Eveready DT 1000. My self I like the 51 or the 22 or 22F.

Duner Wi: Thanks for the info. Found that a Group 26R 12 volt fits the tray perfectly. Its more battery than the tractor will need,but that way it should last longer. Also installed a battery disconnect to the negative ground lead. Thanks again.
