Shear bolt for plow; tractor on blocks

Broke a bolt (a shear bolt, I think) on the top of the plow when I hit some rock. I only found the nut and part of the shaft. How do I know what type bolt to buy as a replacement?

I want to store my tractor "on blocks" this winter. What is the safest and easiest way to do this?

Howdy-
What kind of plow do you have? I have several original Master Parts Books for Dearborn Plows and the Ferguson plough was the model for them. Normally, you go to TSC, New Holland, or your local tractor yard and ask for plow bolts. If you have the broken off shank to take with you for the correct length, do it. Otherwise scale the length from the bottom of the aquare shoulder to the end of the threaded shaft. I want to say you probably need something like a 7/16 x 1-1/2 but not sure exactly what you are refering to. If you mean a share bolt, then that size may be close. If you mean, like you wrote it, a "shear" bolt, like your mower has shear bolts holding the blades on, they're meant to shear off when striking a hard object so you don't damage your mower, then I don't follow what it was you broke off. Plow bolts have like a clipped head-looks like a flat head screw head, and a square shoulder. Hope this helps...
