Help identifying tractor

My son has 'inherited' his father-in-law's Ferguson --which reminds me of the old N-series Fords of the 40's and 50's--and I'd like to help him find the necessary manuals, etc. The trouble is I'm not much of a tractor person, and what little I know of older machines is mostly about the red ones.

To make matters worse, the tractor lives in New Zealand and has for many years, but I don't know where it might have originated.

The only ID number he says he can find is near the steering wheel: TEA 390006.

I do have a jpeg photo, but don't have it posted anywhere; I could, though, email it to anyone who asks.

1. Is that a usable ID number? If not, where should he look?
2. What kind/year of tractor is this?
3. Where could I get him manuals, and, eventually, parts? It seems to be pretty good right now, at least after he fixes the radiator.

Thanks for your help!

Mark

Thanks for your kind help!

I will follow up on these sources and collect stuff he may need when I go to visit in January.

And, even better news, there are a number of NZ sources in the resources you pointed to.

Thanks very much.

Mark

Looks like a 1954 with a Gas engine (TEA is Tractor, England, Gas engine) The Serial # 390006 puts it in 1954.

As Mark said you can get shop manuals. One thing that I am a big supporter of is the CD version of Big Deans manual. You can check it out on the link below. He sells these for $25.00 and I think it is one of the best $25.00 I spent for my tractor. Everything is written in Plain language with pictures.

Thanks Joe

The A in TEA not only means gas engine, but gas engine made by the Standard Motor Company. One place you can get the service manual for this model is from Classic Tractors in the UK. If you look at their website it is the one described as "Massive Volume".

Jim

Check these people out.
I believe what they call a TE some would call a TEA. They have outlets in New Zealand.

TE was Continental engine. TEA was Standard engine. I have a 1952 TEA20-85 bought new on August 26, 1952. We still use it almost daily in the summer.
