TEA20 engine parts needed

The machine shop tells me that I need intake valves and a set of valve springs for my 20-85. The valves, they say, are unavailable through MF or another of their sources. The springs through MF are just (very expensive x 8) .
Anybody got any? Wouldn't you know it I have a brand new set of exhaust valves and guides, and that's exactly what is perfect in the head already.
Or, if anyone knows of valves or springs from another application that are the same, that would be great.
Some kind of trade for these or other parts I may have would be ideal.

Call Lynnville Equipment. in south western Ontario. They have a complete line of parts for the TEA 20-85.Most are new reproductions and he has a good supply of used. Good people to deal with and the prices aren't to bad. Not to mention I'am assuming your paying with US dollars.

I've just finished restoring a TEA 2085 and I had great luck with everything I need from Lynnville.

Jim did you try checking a tractor scap yard they parted a lot of these down in Canada you might get lucky by the way I have a compleat set of valves and guides but I am rebuilding my engin dont know if I need them my self I bought them off a old man it was a compleat rebuild kit but some of the parts were fo the 80 mm . It sounds like you need them real soon and I am not real fast at this rebuild Try some scrap yards they might have the compleat head good luck

This is a quote from a past post,

"TEA20 was built in England, but features an engine built by the Standard Motor Company. This motor was derived from the Standard Vanguard automobile engine, and later evolved into the engine found in Triumph TR2, 3 and 4 sports cars. TEA20s first started with 80 mm pistons, and later went to 85 mm, so they are known in some areas as 20-80 or 20-85s."

With this info you may be able to find your parts at a british auto parts supply outlet.

Hi Glenn,
I did know about that, because I am the author of that earlier post.
Unfortunately the valves are much smaller in the TEA than the Triumph. I will be investigating the springs but really doubt that they'll have the same spring rate, due to the very different typical operating rpms.

You got me.
Well I have now found the parts I needed. Even though several MF dealers said they were NLA, one here in Eastern Ontario found the intake valves right away for $9.98 each Cdn. And instead of the $11 each I was originally quoted for the springs, he is charging me $6.22. And no shipping charges or UPS brokerage rip-off fees either.
I asked why he was able to find stuff no one else could locate, and he said he guessed it was because they are the oldest dealer around.
For others in Eastern Ontario, Canada, I would recommend Bourbonnais in Sarsfield.
