I would like to modify my to 30 to 12 volts but can not afford the cost and shipping of the kits.

whats the best type to buy and can I make the bracket(s) if any needed?

Will any car 12 volt coil work?

thank you, what a cool site, I love my 30.

I took my original 6 volt generator to an auto electric shop and they converted it to 12 volts. With a new regulator, the whole thing cost me about $150.00 to do. The tractor still looks original but now it's 12 volts instead of six.

Most anytime that question is asked....someone tells you to get a alternator for a 1976 chevy truck. Forget the official designation of it....but it is a one wire (regulator built in).
You make up brackets to make it fit. It doesn't have the wide pulley groove like your Ferguson and someone somewhere is making them, I think. Make a good bit of adjustment on the tightening bracket so you can get a belt to fit it the first time.
Check the archives here and you will most likely find the link to the whole change over. L8R....Fred OH
