Zenith Carb

I need some help with the TEA-20 that I recently acquired. It has a Zenith Carb that I'm sure is not original. It had sat for awhile so had to clean the carb and gas tank, now I need a carb gasket or a basic kit. Does anyone know who might handle these? It also has a 12 volt which I'm told is original, but someone has put an alternator on it and It currently doesn't charge. Would I be better off to go back to the original generator & voltage Reg. and if so does anyone have these items? Thanks, Donn

You probably have a Zenith 24T2 carb (original fitment) - rebuild kits, and all the gaskets you'll ever need can be got from The Old 20 Parts Company here in the UK +44 1332 792698 or Southern Counties Tractor Spares +44 1243 512109.

It may be 12V - it depends on the year - they changed to 12V around 1952. It's a personal call whether you go original again, but I prefer the alternator setup as it's usually maintenance free. The regulators need to be adjusted to keep the gaps right - also you get 80A charge with an alternator against 8A (on a good day) with a dynamo. I know which I prefer!!

Even if your starter is 6V (check the casing to see if it says 6V or 12V) it'll go just fine on 12V. I've been running mine for over a year on 12V and it's altogether better.

You should be able to get both dynamo and regulator from either of the above two.

No connections with either company, just use them.

Closer to home for you I've just found Sparex Carb Kit S42540 for all the Zenith 24T series carbs - it should contain all you need.
