I am looking at a MF 35 Deluxe. I haven't driven it yet. New paint, $4750. What should I look for? Was it a good tractor in its days? When were they made? I'm going to mow about 5 acres of grass and going to back blade snow from a 400' foot lane. Thank you for any help.

Make sure that the 2 stage clutch works properly. i.e. the pto drive should stop when the clutch is pushed right down. Also, if it is an X model with the Diff lock, then try this and make sure it is fully functioning.

I currently own one of theese tractors, I believe it would be a very good choice for what you are going to use it for. I prefer this tractor over a ford 8n or 9n because of the low/high transmission. If I could help in any way please give me a call.

CW, make sure the hydraulics work.. that the 3-pt. hitch will lift. The control valve is down in the bottom of the transaxle, where all the water and crud settles out.

If it really is a 'deluxe', you will feel two stages to the clutch; one disconnects the drive shaft, then the next stage disconnects the PTO.

I just finished fixing up a TO-35; it's in the Old Iron Auction at ATIS.

I noticed you converted to 12v without changing the generator, will the 3 brush design charge a 12v battery? What did you change, mine is dying for a better starting system(I have killed the battery 62 times to date(it is the toughest battery I have ever seen), I have had to boost it many more.) The generator is working well enough to run the tractor if I disconnect the battery cable(Mine for some reason is negative ground.) Mine is s/n 140963, oh, and by the way, there were only 63359 TO 35's produced between 54 and 60.
