I have a problem with a flat rear wheel. (TE-20) The tire was fine for a month after the last use then I notice that the wheel is flat. All it was doing was sitting there under a tarp.

Any way I pump the tire full with sealent and air. But the tube will not hold air and you can hear it hissing out as fast as you can put it in.

To compound the problem when I was taking the tractor back to the barn on a low tire. The rim cracked and bulged in two places circumfrentially. The cracks are about 6 in. long and run circumfrentially along the "bead". 1 inch down from the rim edge. The cracks are due to rust through at these locations.

My questions: 1) can this be weld repaired?
2) May I buy a new rim only?
3) Should I buy the wheel and rim as offered here?
4) How hard is it to remove the rims? Just the 6 loop bolts?
5) How difficult is it to remove the tire from the rim & put it on a new rim?
6) How do you tell what rim you need. 28-10 28-11 28-12 etc.

The tires have just air no weight adders.

I just got one of my rear wheels back. The calcium had rotted the rim by leaking around the valve. Total cost $250 CDN (about $160 US) included new rim, new tube, new bolts because the others were impossible to remove and mounting. After I saw the condition of the old rim on the inside I determined that I probably need to replace the other rim and my buddy, who is an excellent welder, looked at the old rim and said "for safety sake, spent the money and then you don't have to woryy". Good advice I think.

Jeff,
I recently replaced rims on my to30. After wasting a day trying to loosen bolts and take tires off, I took to tire dealer the next morning. 45 minutes and $180 later I was all fixed up. Well worth the money in my mind. The manual calls for a 10x28 rims and 11.2x28 tires. Plan on replacing the 12 bolts. If rims are rusted as bad as you say they may be next to impossible to remove (I only got 5 out of the 12 loose). Inspecting the rims after removal made a clear case for buying new and not trying to weld. The metal was very thin in the places where it had not yet rotted thru.

If you are decent welder and a long way from a tractor tire store, you might want to tackle it yourself. However, if you want a lasting solution with as little hassle as possible and you don't have to drive for days to get to your local dealer, I would take the wheel, tire and rim to him and have him replace the rim and tire (or tube). As the other post said, rims are about $80 and then you know you won't have to do this again for that wheel. He will know all the replacement sizes also.

I have to do the same repair to my rim, and am hoping to weld in a new chunk of metal. If anyone knows what gauge this is it would be most appreciated.

New Rims are $80.00, as I do not weld, I think it will cost me that much to have someone do the welding.
