TO-20 Fenders: Repair or replace?

The fenders on my TO-20 are in fair shape. The left one has a few extra old bolt holes. The right one is rusted out under the work lamp bracket. Both have a pretty cheap recent re-spray.

So, do I take them to a local body shop to have the holes and rust filled in (I would want new metal brazed or welded in place and the resulting depression filled in) and then repainted? Or, do I simply order new replacements (about $80 each plus shipping) and have them painted? I'm not after a show stopping restoration, I just want the tractor to look nice as I walk past it or take it out to do a little bit of field work.

I am in about the same situation. I was going to get new fenders but I wonder about how heavy duty they are compared to the old ones? Do they use the same guage of metal? I have two pairs of original fenders and even though they are pretty beat up and rusty, they are still heavy! I didnt want to end up with flimsy sheet metal fenders..

I bought new skins for my 9N and they were OK but they are light compared to the old ones! I don't think the metal is as thick and I do not remember the steel rod being in the outside roled area. Mark H.

I wonder if all the aftermarket skins are the same or if there are some better/worse ones? I have seen them for several different prices. Also, are the skins for the 8n/9n and TO20 the same? (The non Ford script ones of course...) I thought I read somwhere that they are. They are different prices here on the YT parts store. The TO20 skins where about $61 and the fords where a bit cheaper. Dan

I can't tell the differents on them and I have parted a lot of Fergusons and Ford Ns out. Lay them side by side and they look the same to me. Mark H.

I think the price of bodywork is higher than the price of new fenders. I'd get the new ones.
