TEA trans stuck

My trans is stuck in 2nd gear(I would like to have more). It was working great then nothing. I opened the fluid fill/inspection plate and can see the shifter move side to side but not up and back. Any sujjestions would be helpful. It appears there no simple way to explore. Ps. I am sitting down awaitting the response to tear it apart. PMC in Beantown

Occasionally the ball on the end of the gear stick jumps out of the shifter. This is usually due to wear on the groove where the ball pushes the shifter forks. The steel ones can be slipped off the shifter rails once the gearbox has been removed from the tractor and welded up and ground to shape. The channel should be square in vertical cross section. The phosphor bronze middle shifter is difficult to build up as ordinary brazing rods wont work. Alternatively just take off the gearstick and prise the selector back into line (Neutral)as the others and replace. Its likely to be an irritation rather than serious.

The TEA is up and working again. Pulling the manure spreader and cutting the grass with a 52 finish mowwer. Pulled off the shifter inserted screwdriver and walla it works. The spring looks weak any sujjestions about a replacement. Thanks again to all. PMC in beantown

i just take the shifter off an use a big screwdriver to pry it forward it comes free

the rails that the shifter moves can be aligned by taking the shifter off and using a pry or big screwdriver to align them the ball is most likely worn on the end of the shifter it can be welded up and ground down to make it bigger also the spring on the shifter could be broken. the weak spot is the brass shifter fork it can break off I had to get one of these from the scrap yard. It was quite a job to replace it as top cover of hyd had to come off and top of trans cover to. i have the big shop manual copies for 50.00 US and the operators manual for 12.00 for the TEA
