Changed the way "Thang" works never liked it banging into my side. So shortened rod to 8 inches and now when raising rod goes under lift arm instead of raising up and hitting in my side. Shaped flat metal part in vise and then drilled one hole to mount onto side of lift arm, tightened this tight and raised lift all the way up and marked where the other hole was to be drilled. This leaves no room for the extra locking block but never used it anyway.

Well guys I take my hat off to you. It's great to see others can think outside the square and come up with there own ideas for achieving a similar result. The Grey Ferguson Tractors where designed with a task in mind, today however things are a bit different and those of us who still use our Fergys know of the benefits of Position Control.

Check out this site with pictures of another way of achieving the same result. Judge for yourselves which is the neater less obtrusive system.

I was just trying to show a better design, if I want to build a car General Motors would not stand in my way. But today most all cars look alike but some are designed better than others.

I believe in the past folks have avoided posting pictures of the Thang out of respect to Zane's invention and wishes. Some would copy or try to infringe on his original idea. I'm sure this wasn't posted in any way to do this, but it would be nice if it could be removed.

There is a picture of the Zane Thang in the latest issue of the Ferguson Heritage magazine from England. They have a little write-up saying how handy it is and the picture makes it quite clear how it works.

PS I got one but then never mounted it as I (so far) only have implements that need to be up or down. I guess that means I need more implements, right?

Jim, thanks for the heads up, I was just watching out for Zane, he is such a nice guy, although I knew there was no intention to undermine his work.
