My TEA 2085 has had a bit of a hiccup. I was moving it out of the barn on Saturday � I had to engage the PTO/Hydraulics to lift the Bush Hog first. Then I shut off the PTO/Hydraulics and backed the tractor out, shut off the tractor and lowered the Bush Hog which dropped on to a small deposit of gravel I had forgotten about and the BH blades came to a sudden stop.

When I got back on the tractor a couple of hours later, I flipped on the ignition switch (a toggle switch that has been on the tractor and working for 5+years) and the ignition light came on � no problem so far. I started the tractor � still no problem. I drove it back in to the barn BUT I noticed the ignition light was still on while the tractor was running. I shut the tractor off, let it sit a while, checked the connections at the ignition light, started it again and the ignition light stayed on while it was running. Up to the day before when I put the tractor in the barn the ignition light had always shut off as soon as the tractor started.

You may be able to tell I am not a mechanic but, I am willing to try some things to fix this. Can anyone give me a clue about where to start and what might have caused this to happen.

Are you sure its called an ignition light? My TEA has the light wired up as a generator idiot light. Comes on if it not charging or the key gets left on.

Thanks for your posts ger and Barry

I've had this tractor, wired exactly the same way, for over 20 years and this is the first time the ingnition light stayed on while it was running. I thought there might be some kind of "discharging" going on.

Anyone else have any experience here?

Bob,
The bulb should not be lit when the tractor is running. Here is a wiring diagramme; the one on the right is for our English made tractors. If you follow it you can find a couple of possibilities. I woul dtry tapping the regulator with the handle end of a screwdriver in case the points are stuck. If the light goes out, you can then either ignore it, hope for the best and keep your screwdriver handy, or deal with the regulator.

Jim: You posted a wiring diagramme for the TEA 2085. I have one of these and I am having some problems with the electrical system. Could you please repost the wiring diagramme or email it to me. I would really appreciate the help.

Hi Bob
My ignition light stays on all the time. My dealer told me it was suppose to. It indicates that the battery is charging.MMMMM M So I just took his word for it

ya i was told the same thing, now im starting to wonder too mine isn,t charging like it should an hasn,t since they did this wiring job
