Has anyone ever attempted installing a tach on a TO-30 pto? I would like to do so if possible. I think running an implement at it's recommended rpm's is important for safe operation.

steve if i remember correctly the pto turns in the neighborhood of 540 rpm so there wouldent really be a need for a tach.just my 2 cents worth have a great day

The H. Ferguson TO 20/30 tractors will obtain 540 PTO rpm at 2/3 throttle setting. If you desire to know exactly, you may purchase/rent an optical tachometer that uses a piece of tape on the rotating object for a sensor, and thus will read about anything. You may then mark the throttle setting for future use as it is geared directly to the engine rpm.
