Hi

I have just finished renovating my 1953 te20.
As part of this I replaced the gear input and front and rear crank oil seals to stop the persistent leaks from the bottom of the tractor.
The front and gear box oil has stopped leaking but the engine oil is still leaking from the bottom of the bell housing... Anyone know what I might have done wrong? or why it is still leaking after the new seal?
I really don't want to have to split the tractor and remove the sump again.

Any advice greatly appreciated..
Cheers

There is a chance that the rear cam plug is leaking instead of the rear main seal. REM

mike, Just some thoughts, when you replaced the rear oil seal turn the feathered edge toward the oil source which would be facing the oil pan or toward the front of the engine. Hope the crankshaft was nice and clean, a very light emery cloth can help this but dont scratch all up. The seal must be put in so that the feathered edge isnt hurt a little vaseline here will help it slip on better. The bolts must be tightened evenly so the seal sets perfectly flush. Did you repack the rear crank cap with new packing? This is the string packing .If so was it packed down firmly but not so tight that the cap is cracked which can be easily done even broken off. The last thought is the crankshaft being in roundness, doesnt hurt to mic the crank. hope something works for you. gene
