TO-30 90wt Mineral Oil Cross Reference Needed

Went to my local trusted auto parts store looking for the 90wt Mineral Oil w/GL-1 specification. All he had was Dryden (Castrol) #3027. Looked like what I wanted but he wanted over $50. for a 5 gallon pail. The price seemed steep from what I've read here on the board. Can anybody give me a NAPA equivalent or other brand name to look for in regards to this type of oil ? The MF dealer is over 40 miles away and a local supplier would be nice. Thanks.

The tractor supply places usually have GL-1 for under $25 per 5 gallons. Warren is the brand name I have seen around here. I know Agri Supply in Petersburg, VA has it in that brand at that price or less. NAPA does sell it, but I don't know the brand, but it too is less than $30 for 5 gallons, as I bought some from them here in VA this past spring, and I'm sure it was in that price range. Some NAPA stores don't stock it, and some may not know what GL-1 is, if they are city stores, etc. Ford does say the 134 oil is fine, and many use it, and it is thinner and may operate better in very cold climates, but it will leak past seals quicker for sure.

.....and I thought $36 for 5 gallons from the NH dealer was high?!

The only source for the proper oil I've found so far, is the M-1103 stuff from the Ford/New Holland dealer. I hate to contradict what Chuck says....but there is a noticeable difference between the 134D stuff, which is used in the Fords, and the M-1103 90W mineral. I currently have both a Ford 8N and a Fergy TO-20, and I DO NOT interchange the oils!

I'm pasting the following paragraph from the N board, courtesy of Dell (WA). I hope he doesn't get me for plagurism. The guy knows his stuff, and what's good for the Ford is good for the Fergies.

Ford/New Holland now recommends type: M2C-134D hydro/tranny oil, but if you can get the 1939 recommended 90 wt gear oil, thats ok too. That is NOT the same a 80-90wt oil which has additives that eat things in your tranny and hydro pump.
