Was mowing with a 5 ft JD 513 brush-hog today, when the TO-20 just died. Righy now, no bang no pop, just a dead stop. With tranny in netural, clutch dis-engaged, engine will run. Let out clutch, engine snubs out. Tranny in netural, you can push tractor by hand. Turn PTO shaft by hand, lift arms raise. Was running in 2nd gear in short grass at the time. My thinking is the tranny locked up? Does this happen? the machine has a Hupp shift lever on the right side, but I do not think it is hooked up, reason being, I could never tell a difference in speed of the tractor with the lever in either position. Plan on jacking tractor up, draing oil, and taking tranny cover and pump section cover off. Any thoughts on possible causes much appreaciated.
