For those who have a three point hitch that goes up suddenly. I was going to remove the pump and look for sludge blocking a passage. In the beginning I removed the bottom drain cap(1 1/2" in diameter) hearing a clunk clunk I opened the cover with the dip stick. Finding the control lever missing the (clunk clunk) pin for the arm. This seems to be the third time this pin has fallen out.

If this is the pin I think you are talking about did you put the carter key in it after you put the pin in the two holes it slides thru at the top of the control linkage? Mark H.

I used a 1/4 20 stainless with a double nut. The pins were in the bottom of 20 quarts of oil and found after the job was complete. My thought was if two already fell out I'd try a different way.

That pin should not fall out. It has a carter key that holds it from coming out. Aproper fitting one should be tight and of a harden material too. Get a replacement pin from the tractor parts store and the proper carter key and it should hold. I have never had one fall out but had to pound one out that was stuck. Mark H.
