I just bought a 1950 to20. the colors are red (hood and finders) and gray eng. and frame. the wheels are both, like many of the pics Ive seen.I scratched some of the paint under the hood and there is an other color of red that had not been removed before someone else painted it. I want to know if this was an option for this tractor or was gray the only color, and someone just painted it to make there selves happy. I like the red and gray.

The color is gray NAPA 99L3740 for the ferguson to20 and to30.The first ferguson To35's came with a cream hood green body or the later with a gray hood green body. The ferguson to40's came with a creamy yellow hood with a gold body.By the way the second coat of red you found might be the original primer coat all of the ferguson's used this.

You can get the color mentioned at any NAPA paint store, or order it thru any NAPA store. The various small NAPA stores may not stock it like the NAPA paint stores do and they may not be knowledgeable about thinner and hardener measurements, etc., so ask them to get that info. There usually is one NAPA paint store in a area. You will need the proper thinner and hardener, which they will sell you and the paint stores will give you a container showing the correct mixture amounts. This is not cheap paint, expect to pay around $175 for a gallon (which is plenty) of paint, thinner, and proper amount of hardener, but it is worth it if you want a quality job.

The first TO-35's were grey hood and tinwork with green castings. The beige (or cream) and green came later. That is fairly well documented. Also, my Dad had one of the first 1955 TO-35's. It was grey and green.

When the older Ferguson's were traded in, many of them were repainted by the dealers to make them look like the newer Massey Fergusons. I wouldn't be surprised if some Ford dealers didn't paint them to match Ford colors, too.

Solid grey from bumper to drawbar, NAPA paint code 99L3740 or visit a MF dealer for the paint. The only H. Ferguson tractors that are originally a different color is the TO35. If you're not a purist/restorer, whatever you wish is the proper color though('cept green).

Battleship gray was the only color the TO-20 ever came in. My TO-20 hjad a mix of flaking, mottled red and gray on it when I got it too- seems like people try 'n paint em up to look like Ford 8N's or the bigger Fergies. I ended up painting mine gray.....only because the tractor supply place didnt have any teal paint!
