Can I install a temperature gauge on my (1949) TE20? There appears to be a plug on left top of water pump housing as you face tractor. The plug has a screw driver slot. Or isn't it a plug?
Thanks for your help. Ray

The petrol/paraffin TED20 that I have has a temperature guage as standard and the sender is screwed into the plug that you mention. Cost of whole sender unit, feed "cable" and gauge was about 12 ten years ago when I was restoring my tractor. Only snag was that I couldn't get the plug to unscrew. I tried everything, oxy-propane heat included. I ended up buying a new thermostat housing as I just couldn't get it out and eventually broke the old one. - I may just have been unlucky.

Ray, I put one on my 1951 TO 20. I got one at an auto parts store. It is a manual Temp gauge with the temp sensor wire running back to your gauge. In the packet you get with the Temp. Gauge there should be a stepdown male connector that fits the plug at the water pump. You can mount the gauge any place that is convient. There may be electrical sensors now but it has been about 30 years since I put it on. Bill H.
