I've been in the process of sprucing up my 1949 TO-20- I did a complete tune-up, replaced the carb and some other minor parts....and while I had the gas tank and valve cover off(adjusted valves too) I figured I might as well give the old girl a half-a$$ed, brush-on paint job too. While I had the gas tank off, I heard something loose inside of it, so I figured I'd better drain it, and see what's loose. I fished out the culprit- there was something long, attached to something hard and solid- I thought at first "a sending unit for a gas guage????"..... then it dawned on me, as I got a better look at my floater..... it was a petrified MOUSE!- must've gotten into the tank when the old owner had the tractor....as I had never left the cap off. Good thing I got it out.....or I would've really started having fuel problems down the road! Moral of the story: If your fuel flow becomes a problem, look for a dead mouse!
