My T020 while using it one day automaticly raised the three point hitch. If I remove an allen plug under the seat on the side the oil shoots out and the hitch drops like a stone. I think a blockage is somewhere and don't want to do a trial and error looking. can Someone start me in ythe right direction?

I had a similar problem this spring with my to-20.

I opened the right side inspection port and manually moved the control valve linkage. The control valve moved but the lift wouldn't release. I cracked open the same plug you did to relieve the pressure and let down my backblade. At that point I decided to spend the couple bucks for a gasket kit, pulled the PTO and dropped the pump.

I took the pump into work and took out all the valves and cleaned them up with the parts cleaner until they slid nicely on the posts again. I also flushed the housing out, and forced the cleaning fluid through every passage I could find. I concentrated especially on the control valve area. I think that is where the pressure bleed down opening is but I couldn't trace the path in the housing casting. I didn't take the side plates of but I guess you could do that too.

I put everything back together, poured in the hydraulic oil and the lift worked normally again.

Note some people have recommended flushing with diesel or kerosene in place. This may work too but since I had some water come out when I cracked the plug open, and my lift sometimes shook when it lifted, I figured it was worth the hour or two to go through the pump.

Hope it works for you. The one tip I can offer is to use a block of wood with slight bevels cut on the ends to spread the yoke to the control valve for removal and replacement.

P.S. Although I have a fair mechanical background I am a novice when it comes to tractors. I just bought the video through this site, watched it and did the work. It's very straight forward. Let me know if you would like to buy a used copy of the video.

I may try the flush, but if means pulling the pump is the pump under the seat access cover? you mentioned the pto. I'm thinking PTO shaft area.

The tape sounds like a worthwile offer. Let me know how much.

What looks like a rectangular plate bolted to the underside of the tractor 2 ft below the seat is really part of the pump casting. This has to be lowered after pulling the PTO shaft out and disconnecting the control valve linkage through the round inspection port(s). The PTO shaft runs forward from the back of the tractor 2 ft or more through the pump and engages with the transmission. Since the shaft runs through the pump it has to be removed.

The part with the lift cyclinder attaches to directly under the seat on top of the tractor does not have to be removed to clean the pump.

I'll send you a separate email regarding the tape .
