TO-30 Underside hydraulic plate

On the underside of the ferguson TO-30 below the hydraulics is a plate with about 10 bolts. Hydraulic/Transmission oil can be drained from here. There is a large plug in the center. How is this plate removed and what is the gasket for this plate called. I undid the bolts to clean the oil/dirt sediment that had been slopped there for some years but was weary to remove and ofcourse busted the old gasket. Thanks.

Whoa, Tony. Thatis not a plate but the bottom surface of the casting holding the pump components. In other words you are seeing the bottom of the hydraulic pump. I recommend you obtain an overhaul manual for the TO-30 and then you can see how it all comes apart. Or get a parts book for the TO-30 and you can also see the breakdown. There is a gasket for that surface, but you obviously need to drop the pump out which is not a hard job, but some care must be used to prevent damaging other components which must be disconnected before dropping out the pump, so get both the overhaul and parts books before doing any disassembly work.The gasket is called pump base gasket. Replace when putting the pump back.
There is a video out which has some value too.

Phil,
Is there an all in one manual for both parts and overhaul. Also, what is the name of this video and where can it be found. There are so many videos and books, I don't know which are good. Thanks for your help.

No, as far as I know the parts and overhaul manuals are separate. I don't remember the cost but they ae worth it if you intend to keep and work with the tractor. I don't remember the video I bought(about$20 ) as it is up at my cabin with the tractor. But I found one in the Stevens Ag paarts catalog which sounds even better than mine.Call 1-800-333-9143 and ask for Video #302, Ford/Ferguson hydraulic repair includes 9n/2n/8n/TO-20/TO-30. Ask for a catalog too. Video is $25 but I can't vouch for it. Mine is not really great as it is pretty amaturish and does't cover the Ferguson but has some good points applicable to both tractors. I overhauled my pump and had no experience but just followed the overhaul manual and video and parts book showed how things are. One thing, the top end of the pump, the part with the work cylinder and big spring. called hydraulic lift cover is very heavy so be careful and get help or rig a lift unless you are pretty strong. For that matter, the pump base that you took out all the bolts is very heavy and may fall out without notice and injure you hands so be prepared when taking it out and leave a bolt in partially for protection. but if the gasket is frozen this won't work, so just be aware of the danger when taking it out. No big deal but you may get surprised if you aren't looking for it.
