Help in putting a new Gearmore Digger on a TO-20 pto shaft

Well, of course I went out and got the adapter to put on the tractor pto shaft. But it takes a locking pin I have to press in there or pound and it isn't easy. So that's one problem. The other though, is tougher: Even if I get it on, the pto shaft with the adapter won't fit in the old cap. So what happens if I do get the adapter on, and take off the digger? I got a shaft sticking out and oil flying everywhere, right? Is there a set of larger caps I can get, or a better adapter, or what? Anyone with any ideas or experience with this,let me know. Thank you John and Bill for your quick and informative replies, and the pictures, Bill. About the blown seals, my wife and I were figuring this might be, so thanks for the confirmation. We just bought the tractor used from a guy that has been reconditioning them here locally for years. He said he will make good on it when he comes off the road from a family reunion back east. No oil should come out around the pto shaft. If it does the seal is shot. To leave the ORC on you will need a guard like the one that Bill made.

I made this ORC guard for my TO20. It's made from 2 sizes of pipe,flat steel and a pipe coupler. I don't know of anyone that makes a factory guard for this application.
