I have what I am told is a TE20 (approximately 1958) diesel and I'd like to know whether it will pull a boat of about 3 tons up a launching ramp and out of the water. Can anybody out there help me please?

Ferguson made a 4 ton trailer for the tractor when it was in production and I doubt that the weight would be a problem provided you can get enought wheel grip on a wet ramp.

Sounds to me like a common sense thing. Just hook the pickup truck to the front of the tractor with a log chain and keep a little slack in the chain. If you get in trouble with the tractor, it would just roll back till the slack is out of the chain and stop. The hook on a chain can come loose if there is slack, so tie or wire it so it will be safe. The brakes on the front vehicle should hold them both (make sure the ramp is dry) but don't kill the motor on the tractor or you'll have to find a wheel chock faster than superman. I would have someone with a concrete block to put behind the rear wheel in trouble brews. Hope you catch something besides a cold... Fred

Obviously, it all depends on the slope. Sounds heavy to me but others may know better. My point is that it is highly dangerous to pull anything from the top link connection - that's where the big spring on the back is. Its a big NO NO!

BTW, TE20's finished in 1956.
