I want to remove my steering wheel on a TO 35 to replace. Have been soaking with "Liquid Wrench" for several days with no movement. Is there a trick, or should I use a pulley/gear puller?

I found that a rag and short two by four...putting a little pressure on it and then rapping the nut with a soft hammer did it for me. One I even pretended that it was my worst enemy and yanked it loose...better have the nut on it some to catch yourself on that one though. Fred

Get tractor on slope & arrange throttle linkage to disconnect therebye going to full throttle, grab implement lever and raise brush hog over balancing the tractor and having the front wheels become mostly ornamental. With any luck the tractor will pivot, slide down the slope while you are trying to figure out the throttle and impact a large tree- actually the largest tree for at least 500 meters which will impact the steering wheel and converting it to a pretzel shaped object suitable for framing as well as loosen up the shaft. You then nurse you broken ribs for a while and put the new wheel on that has been in a shed for forty odd years- Piece of Cake

Here is what worked for me:
Loosen the nut as far as possible without it falling off.
Have a friend pull up on wheel with as much force as possible.
Strike the loose nut very hard with a hammer.
You may have to strike it several times but it will work.

I had a heck of a time getting my steering wheel
off a couple of months ago. I used a three point
puller and lots of penetrating oil. Even though,
I managed to break some of the plastic around the
hub but was able to repair with epoxy. I read a
post where it was suggested to use a split-collar
with a puller. I'm pretty sure this would have
spared the hub and probably speeded up the job,
too. Reassemble with Never-Seez.

Use a bearing separator/puller, not a two or three legged puller. You should be able to get a bearing separator from your local tool hire shop.
