Hello, I have a 1953 to 30 that is in great condition. However it pops on an idle and the two outer cylinders are burning white on the plugs. I bought a new manifold gasket, replaced the old one and she is still doing the same thing. I sprayed carb cleaner around the manifold to see if it was sucking air and it didn't pick it up. I cleaned both surfaces clean before replacing the gasket. I'm stumped, it is running like it is pulling air from somewhere but I cant find it. Can anyone offer me some guidance??

How about doing a cylinder compression test to check the valves?

The valves are a culprit sometimes, but tight valves will also cause hard starting. A spray bottle of soap solution may help locate an air leak around manifolds, it'll suck into the crack and be obvious. Have you double checked the proper plug wiring sequence? This could be crossed wires, and these engines will run as you describe. A cracked distributor cap will permit cross firing too. That's my brainstorm for tonight!
