TEA 20 Brakes

We have 2 TEA 20 Ferguson tractors. Having trouble with brakes in both. Put new brake pads in but cant seem to adjust them to a working level. Nay ideas on howe to get my brakes working???

David - once you get the brakes properly adjusted, it helps to "burn in" the brakes. Jack up one wheel at a time. Block the other so the tractor cannot move. Put the tractor in high gear and ride that brake lightly until the drum is very hot to the touch. Then repeat for the other side. This will help seat the new shoes.

It is similar to setting the emergency brake cable on a pickup. The following is from the IT service manual
Jack up the rear of the tractor. Loosen nut on the centralizer bolt(located on the brake back plate)Turn crown wheel (just above the centralizer bolt) until a medium to heavy drag is obtained when rotaing the brake drum. Back off the crown wheel until drums rotate freely.Equalize the brakes by backing off the crown wheel on the tight brake.
