I finished the restoration of my TO-20 and decided to hook some implements up to it. When I lifted the draft arms on the tractor the sway chains became tight so that the implement couldn't move from side to side. I don't remember it doing that before but it has been awhile. Is there suppose to be some slack left over is that just the way it works?

Thanks for the help.

Matt

The chains should be long enough that they will still have some slack in them when the lift is all the way to the top.

You should have two stabilizer bars on brackets that connect under the axle on the fender bolts. That is except when using a rear cultivator.

See the link below for some other things you may need for the tractor. It does not have position or height control or live hydraulics and you will find the fix here.

So if there is suppose to be slack, does that mean that I have to adjust my hydraulics or do I need to lengthen my chains? They are the original ones so I can't imagine that something happened to shorten them.

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt

If you have turned the brackets that the chains attaches to the tractor upside down, this can happen i think...
the chains should be attached to the brackets above the PTO shaft, not benieth the PTO shaft..
