What is best to use to unstick TO-30 engine that has been setting outside for year? Have been pouring deisel fuel and automatic trans fluid in plug holes don't seem to help. Thank you very much for your help. Jim

Some people use denatered alcohol,or diesel fuel. Some even use a coke-cola. Yep, the carbinated drink,the acid in the coke will loosen the rust.On matter how '"cheap" parts are they seem high to me. Try to save her if you can.Good lluck, David

Rusty Knuckles and Busted Tractors is a great book on rebuilding old tractors- very funny book. There is a great chapter on busting out pistons with a 2x4 and a sledge.

Apparently the cylinder whose exhaust valve is left open when the tractor was turned off is the one that rusts and sticks when moisture gets in.

Sounds like a rebuild will be needed.

Parts are cheap for the TO-30. Pull the head off and break the pistons out if you have to. You will want to put in new sleeves and pistons anyway. Say your prayers for a good block. Good luck.
