Brush hogged 4-5 hours monday with TO-35 (first time ever),all went well. Tuesday after about 30 minutes shifter would not come out of second gear.....HELP!!

Sometimes I can't get out of first because I'm on a downhill slope. If you can rock the tractor, you can get it out of gear.

DG;
It is possible, sometimes, to free the jam by
using a long screwdriver through the oil filler
cap. Pull the cap and, with a flashlight, you
might be able to see where the hang-up is. Once I
had to loosen the housing bolts to pry the cover
up enough to have the screwdriver release the jam. It sure was a relief when that worked since I was
kind of in the road at the time...
p.s. If you have a parts book for your tractor,
you might get an idea of what's going on.

Try putting your PTO in neutral before shifting out of second gear. Under certain circumstances I need to do that with my TO20.

Yep, its probably leaning on the PTO shaft and hanging up. My finish mower does it fairly regularly. Just take it out of gear (PTO) that is and it should move freely. Disconnecting the shaft from the mower may help if that doesn't do the trick.
