Today when I started up my TEA20, to my great dismay the oil pressure read 10 lbs cold. Up till yesterday it was 80 lbs cold, 30 lbs hot, every time I used it.
So I only ran it far enough to pull into the garage and I guess I have some work ahead of me, but the question is: where to start?
It drips a bit of oil but nothing drastic, and oil is right up to full and has been since I've had it. The oil pressure gauge line isn't leaking.
Doesn't seem like the oil pump has busted since it does have a bit of pressure.
Ideas? I guess what I'm looking for is something simple that I haven't thought of.

Jim, I have a 2085 also. There is an adjustment on the oil filter housing for pressure. I assume there must also be a check valve there too. If that were sticking,it could result in low oil pressure. just my 2 cents.

Dave, I've got a 20-84 and would like to know how to adjust the pressure. Mine is too high. Where is the adjuster?

On the oil filter head, you will see a nut around what looks like a stud. Loosen the nut, turn the stud out a bit, tighten the nut. Note it bears on a lead washer.
(Inside, the end of the "stud" is compressing a spring against a ball on a seat. Tightening the stud compresses the spring more and hence it takes more oil pressure to push the ball off the seat.)

First I would check the oil level and see if over full. Smell and feel the oil also. If oil seems ok I would try a different oil pressure gauge known to be good.

Thanks for answering so fast.
Haven't tried an alternate gauge yet, but the present one does come up to about 10 lbs and vibrate a bit, so at least it isn't stuck. The oil feels and smells pretty normal, as far as I can tell. What are you getting at? Water in the oil perhaps? It is a bit overfull alright, but, how could this cause a sudden drop?

I was getting at coolant in the oil. Coolant is not good as a lubricant and oil pressure will suffer along with engine life. Gas would thin oil out also but would not happen overnight.
I had coolant get into the oil of a different make of tractor once. May not be your problem at all but it is easy to determine.

The oil was full of gasoline. The gas tank was empty. I figure the needle in the carb stuck open, and the gas found its way through an open intake valve to a cylinder or two, and then down by the rings.
Drained and refilled with straight 30 and now have 90 pounds at startup.
Got a good rinse I guess!
Now I will remember to shut off the gas after use.
