I was wondering if anybody had a picture of a gray Ferguson Pony in original or near-original condition. We are currently restoring one, but since they seem to be rare, we are unsure of the correct placement of decals and other details. There are several pictures of red Ponies on the internet, but I cannot find a picture of a gray Pony.

Here is a picture of a restored Ferguson Pony I saw in one of my books. I saw a brochure on them at a show last year. I wish know I would have bought it. Bill

Thanks Bill for the picture you sent me of the Ferguson Pony. I saved it at http://members.aol.com/MIKESAYRE/ferguson_pony.jpg

I really appreciate it!

As far as I know Ferguson had no connection to the Pony. The merger probably happened in the same year or the year after the last Pony was built. So, no grey Ponies. Of course thats only my 2 cents.

The gray Pony we have is a 1954 model and has a metal tag indicating it was manufactured by the "Massey-Harris-Ferguson Co., Toronto Canada."

I have a 1954 Massey Harris Ferguson Pony which was made in Toronto, Canada. It has a Continental N-62 engine. I need to get a battery for it. What size battery do I need???

The Massey Harris Pony is red. Frankly, I've never heard of a Ferguson Pony.

If you go to the Massey Harris/Massey Ferguson discussion board and do a search on "FERGUSON PONY", you will see several postings about these tractors. After Massey-Harris and Ferguson merged in 1952, the company produced some Ponies that were painted gray and sold as Fergusons through Ferguson dealerships. As I understand it, the company was doing something similar to what some car companies do - selling the same basic product with two different brand names (like GMC Suburban and Chevrolet Suburban; Plymouth Neon and Dodge Neon, for examples.)

It isn't surprising that many people haven't heard about these gray tractors because they were only sold for a couple of years. By comparison, the Ponies with the Massey-Harris name and colors were sold over a period of eight years, so they're obviously going to be more common.

I'd love to see an old brochure with one in it. I guess that's what you are looking for. First I've heard of them. If you find a brochure, please post a pic of it, as I'm sure we'll all be interested. Thanks.
