I have narrowed my choices to these tractors. Any Ferguson fans care to tell me reasons to purchase a Ferguson over an Oliver?

Both brands are very good tractors. They both have advantages and disadvantges. First of all if you plan to do much of anything with the 3pt in reverse, like snow blowing, brush hog etc., the Oliver has a much more sensible gear ratio. The low reverse is 2mph and high reverse is 4mph. The Ferguson low is fine but high is something like 6mph! Another point to consider is how much you turn on/off the live pto. The Oliver can be engaged at any time whether you are in gear or not, or moving or not. The Ferguson can only be engaged when the tractor is completely stopped.
As far as ergonomics go the Ferguson is much harder to disengage the clutch. Oliver has a real good mechanical advantage with their clutch.
I don't like the step plates on the Oliver's, and seat seems to me harder to get in and out of than any Ferguson. One huge advantage the Oliver has over the Ferguson is the location of the DISK brakes. You don't need to pull off the back axle housing to get at the brakes to inspect or change seals like the Ferguson. As far as the engines go you'll be getting more horepower out of either Oliver as well which can come in handy for pto work. These are my opinions of course and I love both brands of tractors. In fact I haven't met a tractor I didn't like. Good luck.
