To30 oil to rocker arms

Posted a week ago about replacing rocker arm assembly on the Z129 engine. Went in for final tappet adjustment with engine running and could see no oil making it's way through the ports. This engine was overhauled shortly before the tractor was parked "for good" in the grove. Was then rescued by me 10 years later. Owner said he thought they had forgot to hook an oil line up to rocker arms. I don't see any external line in the schematic, just the normal passageways through the block. Tractor shows 30 lbs. oil pressure with proven gauge. Pulled pan and screen is clear. Engine was gunked up pretty good due to being run with no thermostat in the upper rad. hose. Would appreciate your thought before I pull things apart.

DON'T RUN THIS TRACTOR! THE MAIN BEARINGS ARE PUT IN UPSIDE DOWN. I KNOW BECAUSE WE DID THIS ON A MF 35 GAS AND HAD TO REPLACE ROCKER ARMS AND SHAFT AFTER ABOUT 25 HOURS. THE ONLY THING TO DO IS PULL ENGINE OUT AND CHANGE BEARINGS. WHILE YOU HAVE PAN OFF YOU MIGHT WANT TO HAVE OIL PUMP REBUILT. SORRY ABOUT BAD NEWS BUT WILL SAVE YOU SOME BIG MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.

I'm not sure I'd run it too long with no oil getting to the top end. Remember, your rockers and valve guides are lubricated by oil coming up through the rocker shaft pedestals. The oil then falls back into the crankcase through the pushrod holes. It sounds like the oil lines coming up to the top end are clogged. After rebuilding my TO30 engine, a tremendous amount of oil was pumped up to the rocker assembly. Without lubrication, your rockers are going to quickly wear, and take the shaft with them. Maybe you could remove the rocker assembly and see if any oil is coming up through the galleries from below.

Oil comes up thru the block thru the rocker arm pedestal entering the rocker arm shaft thru a hole in rocker arm shaft. Make sure the holes line up so oil can get to rocker ams. This is what I remember. These engines never could be accused of over oiling the rockers. Good luck!
