IS THERE A THREADED HOLE ON THE HEAD IF SO WHERE? I PURCHASED ONE AT AUTO ZONE I GUESS IT WILL FIT MY TRACTOR. THANKS JIMMY

James, Gary is corect. In the cast iron piece that is the cooling system pipe from the water pump up to the point where the rubber radiator hose is attached. You will find a 1/2" threaded plug on the left (distributor side) of this cast iron tube. The temp. gauge sending unit will fit into this hole. Most of the gauges nowadays come with either a brass or copper plated steel threaded plug to secure the sending unit into this hole. If there is a lot of crud in the hole, just take a 3/8" drill bit and clean out this hole. Seal the threads with a small dab of Permatex and you're good to go.

You can route the tiny tubing just about anywhere to get back to the instrument panel but it looks pretty nice if you follow the mounting flange on the left side of the valve cover. I made some small tin clips to go under the valve cover hold-down bolts. It's OK to wind up the excess tubing directly behind the gauge on the instrument panel. This way the excess tubing is out of the way and out of sight.

Without walking out to shed in this blizzard right now to jog my memory.....I believe a tapped hole in casting that holds thermostat just above water pump housing that has hose connecting to radiator is where you want to look Gary
